Author Jillian Walker wants to span her horizons by writing outside of her comfort zone. Moving from Historical Fiction to Crime Fiction is a big step for her, but has, for quite awhile, pulled at her imagination. The only drawback is her hometown of Layton, Colorado. Layton is a small town and inspiration for a crime novel doesn’t come along very often; however, an idea to ride along with her fiancé, Detective Jackson Hill and his partner Mark McPherson pops into her head and after acquiring permission from the mayor, she is allowed to ride with them during a murder investigation. At first, Jackson, or Jack, isn’t keen on the idea, but comes around when Jillian, or Jill, inadvertently helps them solve several murders that have struck fear into the heart of Layton. Together, Jack and Jill form a crime solving team and soon after the murders have been solved, Jill releases the first book of a new collection title The New Adventures of Jack and Jill: The Outsider. She has yet to see how the book will be received by the residents of Layton. That, she is sure, will be a mystery all its own.
